Luis Filipe Madeira Caeiro Figo was born November 4, 1972, in Almada, Portugal, near the capital Lisbon. Growing up in a rather poor family, Figo displayed his football (European soccer) skills at a young age as a member of a local soccer team called Unio Futebol Clube Os Pastilhas.

By the time he was 10 years old, Figo was honing his skills as a player for Sporting Lisbon (one of Portugal’s 3 best teams), where he was already beginning to show his talents on the soccer field. At age 17, he was a European champion (after winning the FIFA World under-16 championship), and a champion yet again at 19, after taking home the FIFA World Under-20 championship.

Gianluigi Buffon was born in Carrara, Italy on 28/01/78 into a Sporting family: his mother, Maria Stella, was a disks thrower, his father, Adriano was a weight lifter, his two sisters, Veronica and Guendalina, play volleyball and his uncle, Angelo Masocco, played basketball. He is also a nephew of former Milan and Italy goalkeeper Lorenzo Buffon.

As a young boy growing up in Italy, Gigi played as a midfielder. However he decided to change his position to goalkeeper after he lost the will to run, this proved to be a great decision as Gigi is now one of the greatest goalkeepers in the world.

A childhood lived under the close watch of “Nonno” Melchor and his father Osmar. “Nonno” Melchor an important, dignified, loving figure in Bati’s life. “Nonno” Melchor was the head of the Batistuta family. Bati’s life has always been inmerse in love and caring given to him by his mother Gloria with whom he has a very special and close relation. The carefree, happy childhood of “el gringo”, name given to him because of his coloring, was not marred by the hard times his family lived through at this period of his life due to economic crisis. The joy and the love for life has always been part of Bati’s being. Even though things were tight, Bati was happy just going fishing, playing ball or day-dreaming. But his imaginings fell short to his ambitions. “Il gordo”, the fat one, another name given to Bati because of his two or three extra pounds, knew things would happen, his life was like an unwriten book just waiting for the day when his luminous future would be written.

Karl Fredrik Ljungberg (born 16 April 1977 in Vittsjö, Hässleholm) is a Swedish footballer who currently plays for Arsenal in the English Premiership.

Ljungberg joined Halmstad in Sweden as a youth player at the age of five. He played several other sports including ice hockey and handball for which he was called up to the national squad. He made his senior debut for Halmstads on 23 October 1994 in the Swedish First Division against AIK. He went on to make 139 appearances and score 16 goals for the club. He won both the Swedish Cup and League title with the club.
